Baby Falafel Recipe

Hello Again!

So while on the hunt for vegetarian meal ideas, I decided to try my hand at making falafel’s. These are actually very simple and really inexpensive to make. I make them into small patties so that the little ones can easily manage them. Unlike other falafels I’ve had, these have a soft inner consistency so they are ideal for babies to suck and gum on. L had at least 3 of these and we had to stop Baby I after her fourth! You can also eat these cold so they would be ideal for lunchboxes too.

1 can of chickpeas

A large handful of fresh coriander

A handful of parsley

1 tbsp of tahini

salt and pepper to taste

2-3 shallots

4 cloves of garlic(puréed)

4 tbsp of plain flour/ gluten free flour

1 1/2 tsp cumin

Coconut oil/ grapeseed oil for frying

Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until well combined. Place in a bowl, cover and chill in the fridge for 1-2 hours. I actually chilled mine overnight and they were perfect. Heat 1-2 spoons of coconut butter in the frying pan on a medium heat. Dust hands with flour and start by taking small amounts of the mixture and rolling into balls in your hands. If the mixture is too wet just add a little flour to your hands. Flatten the balls slightly to make them into patties. Fry on a medium to high heat until brown on both sides. Allow to cool slightly before serving to the little ones! And that’s it! Healthy, cheap and easy!

Hope you enjoy!
