Salt Dough Ornaments

IMG_2127We made these ornament a week or two ago and they worked so well I thought I would share the recipe! They are so easy and can make a really nice addition to your tree, plus it’s a great way to keep the kids occupied on these wet and dreary days. The other upside is the dough is non-toxic so ideal for those of you who want to entertain toddlers or babies. I had a bag full of Christmas themed cookie cutters but you can use any shapes to make these ornaments. You can also roll out a circle shape and pop your little ones hands or feet into the dough to make little handprint and footprint ornaments.IMG_2427

What you will need:

1 cup of plain flour

1/2 cup of salt

1/2 cup of water

Combine all ingredients. Knead for a minute or two until smooth. Roll out and create whatever shapes you like. Lay completed ornaments on a lined baking tray. Don’t forget to put holes in the ornaments before baking them! I used a matchstick to make the holes. Bake at 160.C for an hour. The ornaments should be hard when fully cooked. Allow to cool and decorate with paint, varnish, glitter or whatever you like. I used copper shimmer spray paint for mine. I placed our ornaments in a cardboard box and did the spray painting outside. Feed string or ribbon through the holes and hang on your tree/wreath/garland etc. And Voilá, The perfect Christmas, rainy day activity!

Hope you Enjoy. As always you can follow me on Instagram.

Bye for now!
